Luna Nuda literally means Naked Moon. Two of the most popular wines from Italy just got better - Pinot Grigio and Chianti.
I’ve been thinking more about the future of the web, and I’m convinced what’s coming is not just another phase or version, but finally the real deal. Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 are going to be looked back on as alpha and beta versions of the real Web which is finally upon us. Techies refer to it as the semantic web, which is going to be a big part of it, but ultimately it’s going to come down to making money for businesses. Every enterprise out there is finally understanding the importance of engaging the online medium and utilizing the communities and tools built over the past decade that have captured the attention and time of the consumer. There’s a really cool site I’ve found that’s seeming to capitalize on this opportunity… fittingly enough it’s called Local.com
Here’s a demo of a cool semantic app from Adaptive Blue… it’s called Glue. The app lives on top of the browser as an add-on and intelligently recognizes whatever item you’re browsing on, whether it be a book, movie, song, restaurant, recipe, or wine, and lets you see what your friends thought of it to help you make a decision.
The most interesting part of the demo is at 0:58 where he asks who is involved in vertical/niche social networks for different things such as movies (Flixster) and virtually no one raises their hand. Facebook and Myspace have pretty much grabbed the whole social networking world as far as actual webpages that people visit to interact. Now where the innovation comes in is on top of the browser and on the phone. The only real websites that have a chance these days are dynamic marketplaces (Foodzie, Etsy).
Today, Payback Time, a Facebook application promoting movie review site Spill.com, was featured in an article at Wired.com. Payback Time was developed by the Grape Thinking team, and originally launched this past summer. It has been growing organically for the past several months, and announced and released a new feature today.
The Payback Time application gives Facebook users the ability to make reviews of boxoffice movies, either defending their honor, or demanding a refund. If you earn enough money, you can use it to purchase movie tickets from Fandango.com.
We’ve certainly enjoyed working on this application, and look forward to watching it grow. Please check it out, and let us know what you think!
UPDATE: Since this article was published, Payback Time has more than quadrupled their app user base!

You can only narrow your targeted advertising down so far when using some of the traditional online advertising strategies. Google Adwords allows you to target specific keywords (a proven method), and they will use IP addresses to geo-target your ads to people in specific areas. Like many advertising services, Facebook offers you the option to pay on a CPC (cost-per-click) basis, which means exactly that. You only pay when someone clicks on the ad.
